Spirit fall in Sault Ste. Marie, 4-1

The Saginaw Spirit lost to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Wednesday night, but still remained in first place in the West Division.

Saginaw rookie and Sault Ste. Marie native Zack Torquato scored the only Spirit goal of the evening at 7:11 of the second period with assists from captain Patrick McNeill and Ryan McDonough.

Spirit goalie Francois Thuot had 25 saves in the effort.

Saginaw's record moves to 32-27-1-0 on the season, with 65 points. Currently the Spirit are in first place in the West Division, two points ahead of the Plymouth Whalers and three points ahead of the Windsor Spitfires. The Spirit head to Plymouth for a divisional match-up against the Whalers tomorrow night.

Saginaw returns home on Saturday to face-off against the Kitchener Rangers at 7:11 p.m.
