Saginaw clinches first round home ice

The Saginaw Spirit beat the Guelph Storm, 7-4, Sunday afternoon in Guelph and have clinched the coveted fourth seed in the OHL Western Conference, good for home ice advantage in the first round of the OHL playoffs.

Tom Pyatt tallied his fourth hat trick of the season in the game. Tyler Haskins, Jan Mursak, Cody Bass and Andrew Hotham each notched two assists. The win moves Saginaw’s record to 41-21-0-3.

Jack Combs, Ryan O'Marra, Ryan McDonough and Nigel Williams scored single goals for Saginaw, who got a 12-save outing from goalie Ryan Daniels.
