Saginaw Spirit forward Marek Kvapil is the first runner-up for the OHL Rookie of the Year honors, earning a spot on the league's All-Rookie squad for 2004-05.
Kvapil was the OHL Rookie of the Month in November and January. He had 25 goals and 37 assists in just 53 games with the Spirit and also represented Saginaw during the World Junior Tournament on the Czech Republic squad and earned a bronze medal.
The 20-year-old native of Prague was the Spirit's selection in the 2004 Canadian Hockey League European Draft.
Sudbury Wolves forward Benoit Pouliot won Rookie of the Year honors.
