The Saginaw Spirit announced that general manager candidate Sheldon Ferguson has withdrawn his intention to join the club.
“Regretfully, for personal reasons I am unable to accept the responsibilities of general manager with the Saginaw Spirit at this time," said Ferguson.
Spirit majority owner Dick Garber said “We are disappointed that Sheldon will not be joining our organization, but respect his decision and wish him the best. He understood the commitment and the amount of work involved and felt he couldn't meet those responsibilities at this time.”
Finalists for the position will return over the weekend and the process will continue. Plans for the welcome reception for the new general manager have been postponed and will be rescheduled once the position is filled.
