Former Whaler Phillips passes away

The Plymouth Whalers and Michigan Junior Hockey send their deepest sympathies to the family of Jeff Phillips, who was killed in an accident on Sunday in Florida.

Phillips, 24, played a handful of games for the Whalers from 2001-2002, along with his younger brother, Steve.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at Lynch & Sons, located at 404 East Liberty Street in Milford. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2-9 p.m. as well as Sunday from 12-2 p.m.

Jeffrey James Phillips was born on July 20, 1983 to Denise and Jeff Phillips and grew up in Westland, and later Highland Township, where he was a 2001 graduate of Milford High School.

He started playing hockey as a young boy and played AAA hockey for Honeybaked and junior hockey for the Plymouth Whalers.

Jeffrey recently dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and was actively working in Florida with his father for Ric Man Construction.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Denise Phillips; grandparents, Jim and Joan Phillips and Elmer and Sue Wagner; brother, Steve Phillips, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Jeffrey will reunite with his loving grandmother, Judith Pendo and great-grandmother, Sitto.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Sunday, January 27th, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Tim Forsthoff officiating. Friends may visit Saturday 2-9 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. until the time of service. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
