Since being acquired from the St. Louis Bandits earlier in the year, Henderson, from Bloomington, Ind., has 12 goals and 31 points in 22 games with the IceDiggers.
“Mike has been a great player for us this year has contributed the piece of offense we’d been missing,” said IceDiggers head coach Jack Fritsche. “He's a natural scorer with great hands and he has an eye for the net like no other.
Fritsche believes that Army is the perfect fit for the 21-year-old Henderson.
“He’s a disciplined kid, on and off the ice, and I can see him cracking their lineup and contributing from Day 1,” said the coach.
"Mike is a very committed young man who will fit in well at one of the finest institutions in this country,” added Alpena assistant coach Josh Harrold.
