Saginaw Spirit forward Marek Kvapil has earned the OHL Rookie of the Month honor for the month of January. Kvapil earned the honor in November as well.
The 20-year-old native of Prague, Czech Republic, scored seven goals and 15 points in 10 games to help the Spirit to a 6-6-1-0 record in January.
Kvapil earned points in eight of 10 games last month, including a goal and two assists against the Sarnia Sting on Jan. 15 and his first OHL hat trick against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Jan. 29. Kvapil is second among OHL freshmen with 51 points in 37 games.
The Spirit drafted Kvapil in the 2004 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.
