Brodie claims top honors with Leamington

Saginaw Spirit defenseman T.J. Brodie was awarded the Top Rookie Defenseman honors and was named to both the First All-Star Team and Rookie All-Star Team for the Junior B Western Ontario Hockey League.

Brodie earned the honors from his time with the Leamington Flyers.

“We are thrilled with T.J.'s development and are excited to have him with us in the future,” stated Spirit coach-GM Bob Mancini. “We congratulate T.J., his family and the entire Leamington Flyers organization for being recognized in this manner."

Brodie was selected by the Spirit in the third round, 47th overall, in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection. He has played 16 games with the Spirit this season, notching two assists and a plus-4 rating.

The Dresden, Ontario native is the Flyers' leading scorer with 46 points on eight goals and 38 assists. The Flyers recently concluded their 48-game season with a record of 17-28-3 and 37 points. Leamington will host the Strathroy Rockets in the first game of the playoffs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
