Saginaw's Mursak inks with Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have announced the signing of Saginaw Spirit forward Jan Mursak to a three-year entry level contract.

Mursak was drafted by the Red Wings in the sixth round, 182nd overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Mursak is expected to return to the Spirit next season. He tallied 27 goals and 53 assists (80 points) in his rookie season with the Spirit and was plus-27. He also set a new Spirit consecutive point streak record with at least one point scored in 22 consecutive games.

Mursak has the distinction of setting that record in his first 22 games in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Maribor, Slovenia native came to the Spirit via the 2006 CHL Import Draft.
